A lot of this is hopefully obvious, but you find our rules here either way, just to make sure.

Forum Rules Empty General Conduct

*) Obviously don't be a dick or do anything illegal, thanks.
*) There's no timer on it, but be aware that the point of this forum is playing the game, so if you sign up, you will be expected to submit a character at some point.
*) No one's gonna check for copyright or anything, but if you're using a picture from an artist, source it, if you can. If you made it yourself, know that I'm very proud of you.
*) The off-topic segments are to be kept safe for work at all times.

Forum Rules Empty Character Creation

*) You're not required to use the template, it's just there to help you, but everything on the template has to be found somewhere in your character sheet.
*) To submit your character, post their sheet in a new topic under "characters", to make keeping track of the conversation around it easier. If you like, you can absolutely do this while still working on it, to get some input.
*) Once your character is submitted, an Admin will have to approve them, before you can add them into the world.
*) If you've talked to the admins about it and gotten the green light, you can lie about your character's history to make for a plot twist later in the game. The same goes for any significant abnormalities you would like them to have, if they affect balancing or may go against the rules that are laid out about the world.
*) As long as they're adapted to fit into the world, you can play existing characters from other stories.
*) There are things mentioned in the character guides that are talked about as being either rare, or occurring very specifically. This is to deter people from trying to use them while keeping them in the guide that provides the context for them. Still, we understand that the exclusivity of this will only make them more attractive to a lot of players, so if it's really, really important, you can ask an admin if you can use them anyway. Just be aware that you may be shut down.

Forum Rules Empty Gameplay Rules

*) You can write in whatever style you want, we just ask that your posts be legible and follow proper grammar to the best of your abilities.
*) Do not powerplay. In other words, do not force your will on other players, by writing what their character will do for them, or skipping over their chance to react. "Soft powerplays" for the sake of simplicity are tolerated, e.g. assuming that, after the entire group has decided to get going, everyone starts moving, but any time you assume another character's actions, it is well within their rights to ignore your assumption and everything you've done as a result of it, you might be asked to rewrite your post, or it might just be removed.
*) While everything outside of the game should be safe for work, this forum is 18+. This doesn't mean that we will enforce an age minimum, but it does mean that explicit content is allowed within the game. As long as it's physically possible within the world and legal outside of it, it's allowed and any complaints about it happening will be discarded out of hand. that being said, any explicit content should be hidden in a spoiler, for the benefit of people who may check in at work or in the presence of minors, or those who just aren't in the mood to read explicit content for whatever reason.
*) Adding to the last point, this is a story driven game, so if you're only here to write out your sexual fantasies, please do it somewhere else.
*) In-game combat will be decided through a dice roll system. If, however, you want to premeditate a fight and write it out as such, you can do that.
*) You are allowed to conspire with other players to drive the story a certain direction, as long as you're not forcing another player's hand in the process.

Forum Rules Empty Combat System

on Mon Sep 02, 2019 2:53 pm
As stated in the gameplay rules, any not premeditated combat against players, or important NPCs under the control of someone else, will be decided through a simple dice roll system.

To start off, when your character is approved for the game they will be given stats appropriate to their description by the admins. More specifically, a normal adult character will receive a total of at most 10 points, with those described as not fit for combat probably being given less. For any character under the age of 20, this will be reduced to a maximum of 8, children under 15 will be capped at 5, and anyone younger than 10 may not receive any stat points whatsoever. Should you feel like your character has improved or taken a hit to one of their stats, for example through training or injury, you may ask for them to be modified either temporarily or permanently.
Whenever you initiate or defend against an attack, we ask that you mark that particular section in a colour of your choosing, to make identifying the exact chain of events easier. you then add the appropriate dice to your post - found just below the text box - and your action will be rolled for you. at this point, the appropriate stat will have to be added manually and finally weighed against your opponent's result. obviously the higher roll marks the successful action, with the difference giving an idea of the extend of success said action achieves.

finding which stat to apply should be rather simple, as each marks a unique type of action;
Attack Strength is used for any direct attack.
Defense adds to anything you choose to block.
Accuracy amplifies any ranged attacks. Here a special rule comes into play, as any total of less than 5 will automatically miss. Should your character find themselves using a ranged weapon they are not familiar with, this stat is automatically set to 0.
Dexterity describes your character's ability to dodge attacks, rather than block them.
Stealth, lastly, changes the game slightly, as it is used for any surprise attacks you wish to keep your opponent unaware of. Note that a ranged stealth attack will have to additionally roll for accuracy and meet the hit mark of 5. Against a stealth modified attack, a perception roll is made, without any added stats. Should this perception roll win, the attempted stealth attack is noticed and will be treated as a normal attack and countered using a defense or dexterity roll, going up against the initial stealth roll value, or the accuracy roll, in case of a ranged attack. On the other hand, if the stealth roll wins, their surprise attempt succeeds and the attack, again using the initial stealth or accuracy roll value, will instead be weighed against the unmodified defense stat of the target.
